Love
To live with love is to show kindness and respect to others.

You must learn to love and be at peace with yourself.  Once you love yourself then you will be able to love others.

To Know Love Is To Know Peace

Healthy Equal Relationships
Culturally we previously had the knowledge of healthy equal relationships but lost it through the generations. Some of us have grown up in an environment where this was not shown to us. Fortunately with some patience and effort these values can be relearned - especially when we go back to the teachings of our grandmothers and grandfathers.

Making Healthy and Informed Choices

Making good decisions involves gathering information. Past hurt and disappointment can cloud judgment making it harder to choose the best path. However with the help of supportive adult mentors you trust, you can talk about what's bothering you and understand how it's affecting your decisions. Friends are also excellent resources who can share their own experiences and explain how they handled similar issues. Simply by visiting this website you are gathering the necessary information to make healthier decisions for yourself.

In the northern direction of the medicine wheel we learn about detachment. The eagle and the mouse are brothers in some teachings because they practice two ways of working with the mind. The eagle flies the highest so he is able to see things from a distance (this is called detachment), while the mouse sees everything close up, noticing all the little details.

Taking wisdom from this example we can see two ways of examining situations to make better decisions for ourselves. Separating yourself from an issue can provide an overview enabling you to see the big picture while taking a close up look can help you to examine all the details of an issue. Making mistakes in life is inevitable and it's ok to make mistakes as it provides life experience and lets you look back on an issue with the eyes of experience. In every instance there is always an opportunity to learn from past experiences and make positive changes for the future.
